Tricks to ease January melancholy

December, the month of festivities, socialising and gifting are behind us. The festive euphoria is very often followed by January melancholy when we want to warm up our soul and body, tired from the festivities and cold from the winter. We prepared some delicious tricks to chase away the January low spirits with hearty, comfort bites and sips.

Črno zrno
The small coffee shop and store at the Gornji trg awaken and refreshes with the bright South American ambience, and even more with the smell of aromatic, strong Columbian “speciality” coffee. If you would like to make their coffee at home, there are several types of coffee available at the coffee shop or their website.

Dobra poteza
The Železna cesta street is home to Dobra poteza, Ljubljana’s first “board game café”. Their shelves boast with hundreds of board games, which will entertain you and they also offer excellent fair trade coffee and tea, boutique beer and even magic potions. They often organise thematic events, which can be found alongside other information about the Dobra poteza on their Facebook page.

Hood Burger
When we discuss fighting the winter melancholy, there is nothing better than delicious fast food. Hood Burger, be it in Vič, the city centre of the BTC, takes care of the lovers of the street food classics - various burgers, fries and other delights. To eliminate the guilty conscience, all of their ingredients are fresh, locally made and of high quality.

Lajbah
A glass of good beer, tasty snacks and a chat with your friends must be one of the best combinations to improve the winter mood. The enthusiasts of quality craft beer can stop by the Lajbah Pub at the Grudnovo nabrežje embankment after 17 January, where you can select from 16 draft beers and an offer of international dishes, and the ambience is always lively with the excellent choice of music by the team.

Ramen by Maru
When we are not feeling our best, we usually go for hot, hearty soup. Ramen, the Japanese soup speciality with noodles, egg, vegetable and meat is more than ordinary soup and in the January cold and fog, it is particularly soothing. If you turn to the Gosposka street from the Vegova street you will stumble upon a small diner Ramen by Maru, which focuses on this Japanese dish in particular. You can enjoy a bowl of hot, aromatic ramen in a typical ambience of the Japanese dinner or you can take it with you.

Zvezda
We all know, desserts have almost magical effects to mood and we ask you not to be too strict with your new year resolutions. Indulge in a cake or some other sinfully good dessert at Zvezda on the Wolfova street and the happiness hormones will take it from there.
