Open Kitchen
Every Friday, Pogačar Square (Pogačarjev trg)
Slovenia’s most popular food market will continue to delight foodies with a wide range of food and drinks from near and far every Friday in September. Selected Slovenian traditional inns, modern restaurants, trendy bistros and chefs offering creative street food specialties and diverse international cuisine will present their masterpieces at over fifty stands.
Eco-Festival
7 September, Pogačar Square
This year, the Institute for Sustainable Development is already holding its eighteenth Eco-Festival, which this time around will also be accompanied by celebrations of the twentieth anniversary of the Ljubljana organic market. The presentation and sale of organic and healthy lifestyle products and services at the stands will be complemented by a diverse accompanying programme, which is presented in detail at the Institute for Sustainable Development’s website.
Rifuzl’s Open House Day
13 September, Rifuzl
Rifuzl, the first Slovenian plastic-free grocery store, invites everyone to spend the afternoon and evening of the second Friday in September in the company of its team, suppliers and loyal customers. In addition to sampling a range of products that you can normally buy at the store, workshops on zero-waste lifestyle will also be held for visitors.
13th Beer & Burger Fest (Pivo & Burger Fest)
14 and 15 September, Pogačar Square
The thirteenth edition of this popular festival will give you the chance to sample over 200 different beers delivered to Ljubljana’s most gourmet square by over twenty Slovenian breweries, beer shops and other beer specialists. They will be accompanied by over fifteen burger chefs and several vendors offering other foods that go great with beer. This way, the organisers will further enhance the concept of bringing together great beer and good food, which is slowly and steadily gaining ground in Slovenia.
A Taste of the Littoral
11 September, Pogačar Square
In its every nook and corner, the authentic charm of the Slovenian Littoral (Primorska) is imbued with high quality and diversity, which will also be presented by individual tourist centres. In addition, various food companies and cooperatives from the Littoral will offer free samplings of dairy products, pasta, fish dishes, meat dishes and products, fresh vegetables and, of course, sun-filled red and white wine.
Events at the Lajbah Pub
6, 21 and 28 September
In September, a number of events will take place at the Lajbah Pub in Ljubljana’s Prule neighbourhood featuring very interesting local and international brewers, such as Collective Arts Brewing, Omnipollo, The Garden Brewery, Castra Pivovarna, Barut Brewing and Blending, and Stigbergets. To spice up the atmosphere, the pub’s kitchen will offer several theme-based specialties and DJs will be on site to take care of the music.
